Thought I'd take a few minutes to write about what I have going on in 2011, especially since some of you could benefit from it. I've had this idea for a long time but as of the last few days certain things have fallen into place and it looks like I can finally get started on it. Launching at the start of 2011 (good for any of you who are going to use the "get back into shape" new year resolution) my company will exist. People will be able to go to my website- www.mytrainingbuddy.com and we will set you up with your very own "training buddy". That could include someone to walk with, hit the gym with, train for a race with and lots of other options. It will be almost like a dating site (without the dating) as in you will be matched up with someone in your very own area, sex, age and skill level. Other than being hooked up with your own training buddy you will also have access to a very large health and fitness forum. We will try to make it a place where you can go to have any of your questions answered about running, nutrition, weight loss or whatever. On top of that members will also have the chance to win monthly free gifts, whether it be a book, shoes, a trip- we will keep it fun and interesting. Best of all- its absolutely Free! Just join, find a buddy and help each other get fit, stay fit and enjoy life.

Old Movies
Was putting some old videos on my computer tonight and came across a few that I thought I'd put on here. The first couple are the start of my last Ironman race (Swim start-thanks Shaun for taping). And the last is of Devan taking me up for my very first flight ever. Pretty awesome things that I've done in the last few months.

Now What?
"We start out in high chairs, we end up in wheel chairs and somewhere between the two we have to figure where our happiness lies and then start marching in that direction"- Unknown
It doesn't happen anymore, but I use to find myself asking 'what now?' It was very depressing to get stuck in life where I didn't have any new goals and everyday was spent doing the same old thing while feeling trapped. That's all over now and everyday (mostly) is spent improving myself in someway so that I can achieve my goals and feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.
With that being said, the past couple years I have really started realizing how bad other people think they have it or love to point fingers and blame everybody else. I don't have time, I hate my job, people will laugh at me, my friends are doing it, I'm too shy- are things that everyone hears and mostly everyone feels on some level every single day. Some people are so focused on excuses and bad things that I can tell they are negative within a few minutes of meeting them. "There have been billions of people that have lived before all of us, there are no new problems you can have that someone else hasn't solved and wrote about it in a book"- Will Smith. I love that quote, so many people think whatever situation they're in is impossible to get out of and that's just the way it is. I have learned so much from reading books and over half the books I own are self help or success genre books. I absolutely believe what you think about you bring about.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you feel like you're stuck- take some time and really think about what it is you want. Write it down if you have to, and try to do one thing tomorrow (or right now) that will put you on a path to whatever it is you seek. Buy an informative book, throw out all your junk food, take a holiday, start that business, lose all your negative friends. Whatever it is you want to accomplish, you're not going to even get a little bit closer unless you take one step towards it. I often rewrite and tweek my goals. The end goals usually always remain the same but the path to get to them is constantly changing and that's what makes life exciting. When you do reach that end goal, it's the greatest feeling in the world and you know you can think of even bigger and better things to do and start working towards another.
Not sure what my next post will be, might try to use my video camera I've had for over a year but have hardly used...

Let's Do It
My life is about to get crazy so I decided to start a blog and take you all along for the ride. I'll be posting once a week about my training, businesses, or just whatever is happening at the time.
Right now I'm living in Red Deer working full time. My triathlon season is over and I've took the last few weeks off, doing an occasional workout every few days. Break time is over and I'm starting to get back into it. Tonight I have my first run in over two weeks, I'm really looking forward to it. I don't need much motivation in my athletic life. I am very driven to do the absolute best I can this year, I live for this stuff.
I have been doing a lot of inspirational reading for the last few years and I feel confident enough that I can start to inspire people. Whether it be through racing, my blog, or companies I try to launch, I hope I can spark some inspiration in people and have them chase whatever dreams they have.
Anyways, that's all I have to say for this first blog. I have a 45 min run to do.
I'll be writing another a blog soon about the question "Now what?"
